CLH’s engineers and landscape architects have been hard at work on several innovative and exciting projects. One such project includes the Rodgers Family Skate Plaza at Trackside found within Hunter Street Park in downtown Apex, NC. The Rodgers Family Skate Plaza at Trackside will be a 13,000 square foot, four tiered, skate plaza which mimics street skating conditions and also includes competition skateboarding elements. The Mayor and the Apex Town Council have unanimously and enthusiastically supported funding the initial phase of construction to build the four levels of the skate plaza. Fundraising efforts are now underway for Phase II. This project is currently under construction and the grand opening is scheduled for August 1st.
Another exciting CLH project includes the Knightdale Station Phase 2 project. In 2010, CLH was hired to develop a master plan for a new 71-acre downtown park for the Town of Knightdale. In an effort to re-establish Knightdale’s downtown as a vibrant hub, CLH worked with the Town to create a performing arts and farmer’s market venue which reflects its farms-to-rails history. Current and future park site amenities include: amphitheater, concessions/ticketing building, picnic shelters, restroom facilities, multi-purpose fields, playground, dog park, fishing dock, tennis courts and skate park. Phase 2 of this project is complete. The Town recently hosted an outdoor movie event in the amphitheater and the grand opening for the farmer’s market which also included a food truck rodeo. The design of Phase 3, the water tower feature, just finished schematic design. The construction documents will be developed this summer with the construction scheduled for this fall.
