CLH attended the Town of Nags Head Dowdy Park groundbreaking ceremony on July 6th. It was an exciting day to celebrate the construction phase of this project. In February, CLH was selected for Phase I Design services and has been working with the Town to develop updates to the existing master plan. Funding for the first phase of design and development is from several sources including a Trillium Health Resources Play Together Accessible Playground Grant of $750,000. CLH’s services included incorporating Trillium’s inclusive playground design requirements and collaborating with the Town’s Engineering Department.
The park will support passive and active recreational uses and includes play areas that are inclusive for all ages and needs, lawn seating and benches, art incorporated into play elements and other structures, on-site parking, stormwater management, and flexible spaces for interactive programming. The event plaza and pavilion along with the multi-use turf area will be available to host events and activities such as concerts, performances, art shows, festivals, group and individual fitness activities, outdoor classroom space for educational programs, farmers’ market, and other community social gatherings.
