Civil Engineer

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited College/University.
- NC Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
- 5 to 15 years of experience specifically related to site design.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Highly motivated to successfully interact with clients, regulators, the public and design team members.
- Ability and desire to collaborate with in-house Landscape Architects in small multi-disciplinary teams.
- Must be able to pass a background check and be legally able to work in the United States of America.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform site design from conceptual through construction document phases utilizing AutoCAD software.
- Perform design calculations (water, sewer and storm drainage hydraulic modeling, SCMs, erosion control, etc.) and prepare report figures and exhibits.
- Perform review of drawings, specifications, calculations and other engineering documents.
- Generate correspondence, attend meetings and serve as a point of contact for clients, review agencies, contractors, the public, and design team members.
- Prepare, submit and track required site and utility permits.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to understand and follow highly complex written and oral instructions.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering and utilities operations as applied to the development, design and construction.
- Knowledge of current codes and regulatory standards governing the state’s building construction industry.
- Ability to read, update and maintain various records and files.
- Ability to access, operate and maintain various software applications.
- Ability to clearly communicate information both verbally and in writing.
- Skill in operating various specialized software and office equipment, e.g., large format plotters, AutoCAD-Civil3D, Hydraflow, Bentley WaterCAD, Microsoft Office/Excel.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented office and establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental personnel, management, contractors, consultants and the general public.
Civil Designer
CLH is also in search of a talented Civil Designer with a passion for site design. This position requires the following qualifications, responsibilities, and skills:

- 2 to 5 years of experience in site design or closely related field.

Landscape Architect/Site Designer
CLH is seeking a motivated, technical and detail-oriented Landscape Architect/Site Designer to assist with multiple site design projects. The candidate will be given the opportunity to work on a variety of public sector projects including K-12 and higher education campuses, civic/community service facilities and parks. The candidate will assist in many aspects of design, including site analysis, conceptual design, construction plan development, and specifications where applicable. The creative and innovative projects you will be a part of have a direct effect on the community and help shape outdoor spaces all around you!
The ideal candidate will have four to eight years of experience in landscape architecture and site design, with an ability to provide technical design for multiple projects under the supervision of a Landscape Architect and/or Civil Engineer. Projects are deadline driven and the ability to work as part of a team while also having plenty of self-initiative is extremely important. CLH offers a hybrid work environment with work from home options as well as a newly renovated office space.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field from an accredited College/University.
- Four to eight years of experience in the landscape architecture or civil engineering industry.
- Experience or knowledge of AutoCAD, Land F/X, and Adobe Creative Suite software.
- Experience with site design principles (i.e., layout, grading, storm drainage, erosion control).

Duties and Responsibilities:
The candidate will perform a variety of design functions related to landscape architecture and civil engineering, including:
- Perform drafting operations, including redline mark-ups, as related to site design.
- Research and compile records and field data for the preparation of construction plans; develop and draft site development plans; develop permit applications and generate correspondence.
- Maintain active communication with contractors, engineers, landscape architects, surveyors, government agencies, and the public for any engineering, surveying, or construction issues.
- Perform other related duties as directed.

- Basic knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering and landscape architecture, specifically as it relates to site design (i.e., layout, grading, storm drainage, erosion control).
