It was a perfect autumn day to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the North Carolina State Parks new Moncure paddle access on the Deep River! Authorized in 2007, Deep River State Trail is one of 15 official North Carolina State Trails — a hybrid of paddle and land routes. Several speakers shared their excitement for the project and then enjoyed a paddle on the river. CLH served as lead designer for the new access point which offers a paddle launch for kayaks and canoes, a vault toilet, and parking. Additional facilities, including trails, will be part of future development. We are very proud of our work on this project that provides a new public access to this scenic and amazing river!
