Town of Apex Rodgers Family Skate Plaza at Trackside

The Rodgers Family Skate Plaza at Trackside is a 13,000 square foot, four tiered, skate plaza located in downtown Apex which mimics street skating conditions and also includes competition skateboarding elements. CLH provided landscape architecture design and civil engineering services for this project and coordinated extensively during design and implementation with the skateboard consultant Team Pain. Additionally, CLH conducted a design charrette with 25 local skateboarders ages 5-35. The skateboarders were divided into five groups who presented their ideas. The group voted on the best idea from each group and these ideas were incorporated into the final design. The grand opening for Phase I occurred August 1, 2015. CLH helped raise over $300,000 in in-kind donations for this project.

CLH has continued to provide landscape design maintenance services for this project. We added new sidewalk, step-ups, additional fence and landscaping with large boulders to repair erosion problem areas. The design of this skate park has been a huge draw for the Apex community and is very popular destination for young and old alike.
