As project lead, CLH design coordinated five improvement projects for Chapel Drive on the Duke University campus. The projects included a stormwater culvert replacement by McAdams, a new duct bank by AEI, intersection and traffic signal improvements by VHB, Chapel Drive streetscape improvements by CLH design, and invasive plant removal by River Works. For the Chapel Drive streetscape improvements project, CLH was responsible for the following tasks:
- New granite curbing
- Full depth asphalt replacement on Chapel Drive
- New pavement striping
- New sidewalks on either side of Chapel Drive
- Coordination of OIT ductbank of 2-4” conduits coordinating the placement of two stormwater inlets associated with the culvert replacement
- New streetscape plantings
- Modification to the driveway and full depth asphalt replacement on approximately half of the rear parking lot serving the Office of News and Communications
- Lighting (collaborate with AEI and Duke on locations, spacing and fixture selection).
As for the other projects being conducted by other firms, CLH served as the main project contact and made certain deadlines were met.
