UNC Greensboro Kaplan Center for Wellness – LEED Gold Certified

CLH provided civil engineering design and permitting services for a new student recreation center at UNC Greensboro. Services included infrastructure/utility design for on and off-site design, erosion control design, storm drainage and stormwater management design, and permitting. The new Kaplan Center for Wellness will be part of UNC-Greensboro’s new Mixed-Use Village. The overall project is in a redevelopment area comprised of industrial, business and residential properties bounded by city streets. A separate building houses the primary mechanical components for the Kaplan Wellness Center. Site work included a demolition plan for on-site features that are being removed, utilities, pavement and curb and gutter design (i.e., roadways, parking lots, services areas and sidewalks), storm drainage and stormwater management design, erosion control, grading, permitting and LEED documentation pertaining to stormwater management. This project received LEED Gold certification and includes many sustainable design elements.
