Steve has more than 25 years of engineering design, project management and construction administration for multiple commercial, institutional, industrial and residential projects. He remains involved in all phases of CLH projects from preliminary design until final construction. His field of specialization is high performance site design stressing environmentally friendly development to provide protection of natural resources by means of practices that also enhance the site’s educational resources.

Zak Pierce
As CEO, Zak oversees our business development efforts, client experience, and long-term vision for the company. Being both a licensed landscape architect and LEED AP professional, he is committed to promoting environmental awareness and conservation through safe, functional, and meaningful designs. He is an active member of the North Carolina Chapter of ASLA and works tirelessly to advocate for the profession. Roles have included NCASLA Chapter President, ASLA Chapter Presidents Council Chair, ASLA Leadership Development Committee member, and NCASLA Secretary. He is now serving as the NC Representative for the National ASLA Board of Trustees. He is a frequent speaker at parks/recreation, public safety, and landscape architecture conferences to further his professional development and promote the importance of landscape architecture.
Glenn Medlin
Glenn has more than 20 years of site design, project management and construction administration experience for multiple K-12 school systems, universities, municipalities, and various parks and recreation projects. Specializing in both sustainable design and construction administration allows him to provide environmentally friendly design, with detailed attention to natural resources during all project phases.
Renee Pfeifer
As President, Renee manages the daily operations of CLH, working collaboratively with our design teams and project management staff to provide high-level site design and engineering services. She has 20 years of site design, project management, permitting, and construction administration experience with clients such as K-12 school systems, universities, and municipalities. Her devotion to the field of landscape architecture inspires her to create comfortable and functional outdoor spaces for a variety of CLH design’s educational and community clients.
Ken Loring
Ken has more than 30 years of engineering experience for a variety of CLH’s community and educational projects. As one of CLH’s lead civil engineers, his specialties include site design, roadway design, stormwater management and design, sediment and erosion control, and utility design. In addition to providing engineering expertise, Ken serves as CLH’s Director of Engineering. This role includes providing staff mentorship and quality control for CLH projects.
